The hemp plant is closely related to the cannabis plant. From the same genus of plant species, cannabis contains higher levels of THC, (the component that gets you high) while hemp has higher levels of CBD, and does not get you high.
CBD stands for Cannabidiol and it is one of the over 700 active components of the Hemp plant. Unlike its cousin THC, CBD is non-intoxicating. Our bodies naturally make a cannabinoid substance that is called 2-AG.
